Online Partnered Swing Dancing Classes

Partnered classes will teach you the basics of the authentic version of swing dancing called Lindy Hop. It's a dance originated by Black Americans in places like the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, New York in the 1920s and 1930s. The music is big band jazz and traditional swing that will really get you moving!

What you'll need:

1. One lead and one follow. Who leads and who follows does not have to conform to traditional gender norms and we encourage siblings, roommates, and partners to try either role.

2. Comfortable footwear that is not too sticky on your floor surface. You'll need to be able to pivot and turn on the ball of your foot.

3. An open space in your home or outside where you can see the computer screen and have enough room to dance a little. Hardwood floors are preferable, but other surfaces are ok as long as you are wearing shoes that will not grip the floor/ground.

4. A good attitude and a willingness to leave your criticism at the door! Learning new things can be challenging, and cutting your partner some slack while you cut a rug can go a long way.
