Balboa classes with July and Stan from Boston Balboa
The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St. Kittery ME
Sunday, 11/16
Check-in opens at 9:30 am
What is Balboa?
Balboa is a dance style that originated in California in the 1920s and 30s. A subtle, sub-style of swing, it can be danced in a small space to a variety of tempos. Primarily danced in close embrace, Balboa can be woven right into your other styles of swing dancing.
Workshop schedule:
10 - 11 am: Bal for Beginners
This is the starting point for newbies, and an opportunity to review the basics for those of us who are only occasional Bal dancers.
11:15 am - 12:15 pm: Intermediate Balboa: Adventures in Pure Bal!
We'll practice creating rotation and direction with paddle-turns and related moves in closed position.
12:30 - 1:30 pm: Intermediate+ Pure Balboa
For dancers with a bit more Balboa experience, we'll work on some variations and syncopations in Pure Bal Land.
Classes also available on Zoom and recorded for later viewing.
